Several new releases are clamoring for your attention – some come with solid discounts, others not so much. Here’s a closer look at the new offerings. The Realme GT 7 is equipped with a Dimensity 9400e – despite the name, this is closer to the 9300 than it is to the 9400. As we note in our review, the chip is fast, but sustained performance is an issue. Still, you get a lot of hardware for the price. This includes a 6.78” LTPO OLED (120Hz, 1264p+, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 6,000 nits peak brightness) and a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging and battery bypass. Battery life is quite...

Oppo Find X8 Ultra bend test doesn't end well

Oppo launched the Find X8 Ultra in April, and unfortunately it's a China-only device so most of the world will never see it. That hasn't stopped Zack from JerryRigEverything getting one in order to perform his famous durability testing on Oppo's latest flagship device. And it's an interesting test to say the least. It starts off normally with the glass on top of the screen scratching at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves showing up at level 7. The frame is metal, the screen takes an open flame for about 35 seconds, but no visible marks remain afterwards. Finally, the...

Apple is planning a new direction for its OS naming scheme

Apple may be ditching its usual operating system naming scheme in favor of a yearly aligned approach. This means we’ll be getting iOS 26 instead of iOS 19 this fall, with the change most likely to be confirmed at the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is set to kick off on June 9. Apple will reportedly take the same approach with its other operating systems, including iPadOS, macOS,...

Xperia 1 VII and Galaxy S25 Edge, Nothing Phone (3) price unveiled, Week 20 in review

This week, Sony and Samsung unveiled their anticipated premium phones - the Xperia 1 VII and the Galaxy S25 Edge. The Xperia 1 VII is very much a refinement of a familiar formula Sony obviously likes - it has a 6.5-inch display, a triple camera on the back, and a 5,000mAh battery built-in. It also still has a 3.5mm audio jack (a high-end one) and a microSD slot. The Xperia 1 VII will ship in June, price is £1,399/€1,499. Weekly poll: is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge the right flagship for you?

A decade ago, Samsung released the Galaxy Alpha – a slim and light (6.7mm, 115g) premium phone that promised to shake up the status quo in high-end smartphone design. The success of that is questionable as the Galaxy S6 that followed was met with criticism that was addressed with the S7. But we’re here again – the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge asks “what if flagship phones were thinner and lighter?” Despite having the same height and width as the S25+, the Edge is slimmer (5.8mm vs. 7.3mm) and lighter (163g vs. 190g). In the process of slimming down, the Edge lost 1,000mAh battery capacity,...

If you’re leaning towards the former, you’ll be glad to hear that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge impresses with more than just being thin – it’s also very light. It weighs a single gram more than the vanilla Galaxy S25, despite the large...

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE's telephoto and ultrawide camera details leak

A few days ago a leak told us that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 FE would have an upgraded selfie camera and a 50 MP main rear camera - which may be unchanged from that of its predecessor. Today the same source is back with details about the S25 FE's telephoto camera, and it's not good news. This will be the same 8 MP unit with 3x optical zoom that the S24 FE has. Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 8 MP cameras on the rears of devices costing this much shouldn't be a thing in 2025, but alas, Samsung thinks different. Then again, at least the S25 FE will actually have a dedicated telephoto -...
